Android 11 Beta has a lot of new toys to play, but one of my favorites this year is without doubt the addition of smart home controls to a new power menu that allows me to quickly adjust my smart lights or Nest Thermostat to explore applications or jingles using the Google Assistant command . This quick control can act as a light switch - and for Android TVs, but not for Chromecast devices - and provides a faster way to set your thermostat.

By default, new controls are filled in automatically, depending on which one uses the most thermostats and a variety of smart lights for most of us. However, you can change which controls appear and what order is available. If there is a limit to the amount of control you can have, I will not hit it with every Android lamp, thermostat and TV in my house.

Step On How To Add New Smart Home Controls To Android 11's Power Menu

Step 1. Long-press the power button to open the power menu.

Step 2. Tap the three-dot menu icon to the right of your smart home name.

Step 3. Tap Add controls.

Step 4. Check or uncheck individual smart home controls to add or remove them from the controls list.

Step 5. Once you have the devices you want, tap Save.

When you return to the Power menu, your new device will be added to the bottom of the current list. If you want to set up controls, you might want to place the most common controls below so you don't have to go to them. You can do this too!

Step On How To Edit Your Smart Home Controls On Android 11's Power Menu

Step 1. Long-press the power button to open the power menu.

Step 2. Tap the three-dot menu icon to the right of your smart home name.

Step 3. Tap Edit controls.

Step 4. To remove a current control, tap the unwanted toggle to uncheck it.

Step 5. Drag and drop a smart control to re-order the toggles.

Step 6. Once the controls are in the desired order, tap Save.

I prefer to leave the thermostat at the bottom of the list so it is closer to the bottom and my smaller thumbs but you can also arrange them by type or space on the device if it makes it easier to remember.
